iPhone release day - Failure by Apple…
Well. My iPhone was purchased this morning. I changed my account from 3 to o2 and sat back ready for the previously mentioned greatness.
Only I couldn’t. Activation time came and so I connect my Phone to my Mac but alas - it doesn’t work! Some error about the iTunes store and my network. So no iPhone for me today. There’s a lot of talk online about activation servers failing etc., but its not really good enough. They knew how many phones they were sending out so really they should have been able to deal with the extra activations. But no, so users like me have to wait for apple to sort it out before we can use our phones.
Very lucky I still have my blackberry on another number so that I’m not without a phone for today and with me heading off to Oxegen this weekend, probably for the weekend! Unfortunately Apple are more than likely going to see through this without flinching. Steve Jobs will spin this so that it looks like Apple are just hilariously popular. But I’n thinking that they have to start watch to out. Apple have been slowly expanding their customer base and with this phone especially (cheap and 3G) they going to pick up a group of customers which aren’t as loyal as their normal MacBook crowd. Maybe change is coming? Probably not.
Edit(18:22GMT): Wow. It looks like the blogging gods helped me out. My phone is just magically working. Still getting that error from iTunes but my phone is now making calls etc., so its great. All is forgiven Apple… Actually no its not! You still messed up! Now to find out why its working…
